Dynamite Trails - MTB - Old Military Pathes on the border ridge of the West Alps
Where once a mighty trench warfare raged, the old military paths allow us a great access to the breathtakingly beautiful
mountains of the Western Alps, a trail enjoyment of a special kind!
Absolute highlights of high alpine mountain biking await you, enjoy the magnificent and rugged mountains of the Western Alps and experience the
fascination of cycling on old military roads to the highest mountains of the Alps.
Conquer the endless expanses and silence of the lonely Western Alps with your mountain bike and pass past former forts and positions that remind of the
time of the wars and today rest peacefully in the special light of the Western Alps. Very spectacular and impressive. Unique round trip in the rear Susa Valley
on the border ridge between Italy and France.
Day 1: Arrival from Garmisch in a luxury panoramic bus to Susa, access options along the route
Day 2: 51 km, 2380 m ascent Mont Jafferau with its legendary fort, it goes along the river Dora Ripaira to the dam with the fortifications
Exilles past Fort Fenils on a military path up. After a while, wonderful views open up into the Susa Valley and over to the Grand Bosco di
Salbertrand National Park until we come up and below steep rocks to the Galeria di Sarazeni.
There, the Alpinis (Italian front) simply carved an 800 m long tunnel into the rock due to the recurring demolition of the rock face and the
danger of mudslides and avalanches. We traverse, always gaining altitude and reach a breathtaking saddle with incredibly beautiful views of
the high surrounding mountains with the deeply incised valleys past an old barracks to Mont Jafferau with its fort, terrific!
Day 3: 44 km, 1360 m ascent The Colle le Sommeileur awaits us, it goes along a waterway first relatively flat into the Valle di Rochemolles, before it goes
granidos winding up to the Pian dei Morti, where we rumble in the upper part over an old military pavement up to pass, magnificent views await us and we
reach a glacier.
Day 4: 34 km, 1380 m ascent It goes up to the Passo de la Mulatteria with magnificent scenery and again great views before it goes down to the Col d ́Acles.
Now a fantastic trail awaits us down to the pass route from the Col d ́Echelle to the historic town of Vauban Brinacon
Day 5: 42 km, 1520 m Ascent over several fortifications and forts to Lac Noir and on to the legendary Fort Janus, from where the French destroyed the cake
bunker complex on the Chaberton in the 2nd World War within one day, but more on that later...
Day 6: 44 km, 1950 hm Mont Chaberton, today it gets even more adventurous, we climb first on steep, but still drivable route the mountains until we reach
a carrying passage, then depending on the condition and driving technique we reach a key point where we have to push the bikes.
It continues up to the Col del Chaberton where it becomes more drivable again up between barbed wire and remains of the fortifications past a guard post
up to the cake bunker of the Chaberton on ! Attention 3131 m, Hammer!!!
Day 7: 60 km, 1950 m ascent The Asietta Border Ridge road awaits us, first we go up to the Olympic town of Sestiere and then continue via Col Blegier,
Lauson, Vallette to the Colle de Finestre, hammer great cinema awaits us, sensational deep views, some traces of the fortification and a fort... and 1700 m
