Day 2: 75 km - 1200 m ascent Along the river Douro runs a great valley with spectacular bridges into the back land. Cycling is very popular in Portugal, at lunch in a typical tavern, a couple of cyclists join our next table and drink a coffee, of course, helmets are kept on the head. Day 3: 115 km - 2200 m ascent Mountain stage today, on the Sierra Feixa with absolutely lonely streets, amazing landscape, a few wind turbines and further through sleepy villages through the valley of the river Vouga to Aveiro, the Venice of Portugal. Day 5: 92 km - 1330 m ascent And on to the Roman ruins of Conimbriga, to which we pay a visit. Our driver watches over the bikes and we can put on comfortable shoes for the visit. We go to Nazaré to the sea, but first we crank up to the cliffs, the sunset is absolutely worthwhile. Day 6: 78 km - 690 m ascent It goes to Alcobaca, where we visit the cathedral.
